Sunet Dragstrip

I am not sure how everybody else feels but I miss Sunset it was not the best track out there but it sure was handy. It sure would be interesting if someone built a new track in this area ,there has to be money in it, and with all the unzoned property around it should,nt be real hard. Buy an old rundown farm with some serious fields and go for it. I guess there is a lot more to it than that with epa, insurance, ect, etc. I think I read that the IHRA has somewhere around 71 tracks sanctioned now and they are geared more for my kind of [poor man] drag racing. There are some great tracks around here but the closet is an hour drive for me and with the price of gas it really stings plus if you get there and you,re car is not quite tuned in then you might have wasted a big trip. My first time out this year I found out I had a saturated float in my secondarys on the Fiat so all I could do was watch everyone else.I am not a good spectator at a drag strip lol So I guess I,ll do the best I can and run as fast as my wallet will let me good luck everyone I hope to see everybody at the track.

I miss sunset too Skip. Yes, it was about an hour from us, but it was worth it. Got to see some nice rides, and make plenty of passes. Yeah traction wasn't the strong point, but the atmosphere sure was. R.I.P Alex.

I feel you skip.. Sunset might have been a real circus at times but everyone enjoyed it and helped each other out and it was a really good environment. I hope to see everyone at one of the tracks as well this year!

i feel the same skip.i loved sunset cause it was really close you got a bunch of runs and everybody was nice over there.i wiss somebody could of bought it and kept it runnin.it would be nice if we got another local track.

i miss it too! if you could hook and run good at sunset. you could go anywhere and run.
