We had the Pro Mod meeting with Greg Miller yesterday and had a great turn-out. We even had 1 fellow from Canada and 1 from New York come in. The series will consist of 2 different classes. One will be the outlaw Pro Mods with no rules other than no nitro is to be used. T/S safety rules apply. The other class is outlaw dragster and the rules are being established with Scott Koffel and Greg. The races will be held at Quaker City this season, but looking to make it a traveling series in 2012. The dates for the races at Quaker are 5/14, 6/18, 7/2, 8/27 and 9/10. Greg has been working with Jim Curtis from Thompson and they've tried to schedule the Door Wars races and Asphalt Wars races with enough time between the races for parts repair and such. Greg has asked all the folks that are interested in the series to register on the following sites which are new and just getting established. Carl Rossler asked that the name Door Wars be kept for the sake of continuity which will be name of the new series.

He was also telling us about the upcoming plans for Quaker City, and it looks like it'll return as one of the premier east coast tracks. Lots of plans in the works and all new equipment. The concession stand has been gutted and new equipment is being installed, upgrading of the rest rooms and a new track entrance, plus many other changes are in store.

There are T's that need crossed and I's that need dotted, but I'm sure Greg is going to end be the manager at Quaker. Norm may have bought the track, but all the legalities of ownership and such are grinding away. Greg is a good fellow and easily approchable. Plus, he's a racer too along with his son who races a quick dragster, so it's not like he's a PR guy with knowledge of drag racing.

This is some good news Dan , Glad to see some more Headsup races in our area, I have a feeling that the Renegade Series will assist the Door Wars at Thompson an Quaker, we have to nudge Tom Cowle a little an see if he responds.

Don, are you planning onattending the Renegade Winterfest this Saturday ? Tom invited me and I bought a ticket, but when I found out where it was going to be held, I changed my mine. That's a long haul for me and with the hours being from 4-7, that's pushing my bedtime ! lol
Greg is unfamiliar with the Renegade Racing Assoc. in that he's never seen them run and the quality of the cars and I hope when they run at Quaker there is a good spectator and racer turn-out so he can see what a well run organization it is.
Having the Renegade Assoc, the Door Wars cars and the open cars along with the weekly bracket racers, is going to make a good show at any track. By the way, the Door Wars series of races, as are the Asphalt War races, will all be on Saturdays. That Friday night deal both at Norwalk and PRP just doesn't work out.

I'm not gonna go either Dan, Thats a haul for me too in this weather. I don't venture very far in the winter months. Glad to hear the Door Wars will be on a Saturday, the Friday races are just too hard on most working folks. I was worried last fall that headsup racing this coming summer would be hard to find but it looks like it moved right in our back yard, who'da thunk it!

It seems there are more and more racers, and spectators, wanting heads-up racing the past few years. The great thing about that is, even if somebody doesn't know anything about drag racing, they can understand this style of racing. It would be great to see more creatures in the bleachers and help the bottom line for the tracks and different racing organizations.

Greg and Tom have talked and we have 1 race at Quaker City with the Door Wars and Renegade Racing Assoc. racing together. Due to the late start Greg had in organizing the series, this year will be a foundation laying year. He has good plans for down the road and with the support of the racers and spectators, it should be a great series.
